Our zipline tours may be on temporary hiatus, but our team is still ready for action! On that note, we are thrilled to showcase some of the people who make our tours tick, starting with General Manager Brittany Tomasko:
When did you start at Margarita Adventures—and what drew you to our company?
I have worked for Margarita Adventures for six years! I love the outdoors and studied Outdoor and Adventure Recreation at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. My previous experience working at Cal Poly’s High Rope Course and summer camps with adventure ropes courses brought me to work for Margarita Adventures.
What is your favorite thing about working at Margarita Adventures? Do you have a most memorable moment?
My favorite thing about working at Margarita Adventures is watching our guides grow and become leaders. My favorite moment at Margarita Adventures was leading a family of 13 people on a kayak trip. For most in this family, this was their first real outdoor adventure. It was such a memorable experience because we were singing the whole time!
You wear many hats—can you describe what you do?
I make sure that we are in compliance with many organizations including the Public Utilities Commission, California Highway Patrol and California Permanent Amusement Rides Department. I also make sure that our fleet of vehicles are in proper working order, and that our guide team has everything they need to run our tours, from harnesses to toilet paper! Of course, I also make the schedule, interview and hire staff, and oversee continuous maintenance of our facilities and equipment.
How are you quenching your thirst for adventure while sheltering in place?
I have been running and walking while avoiding people and stoplights. I am also an endurance road cyclist so I’ve been riding my bicycle and participating in online workouts. I’ve also been doing a lot of pushups!
